Camila Cabello's "I LUV IT" Is Actually Kind of Okay

Not the best, but not the worst either

There was about a two-week period where we were waiting on what we thought would be a haterade slam dunk after Camila Cabello released a preview of her new track "I LUV IT." Twitter X having a field day ripping something apart is usually a good sign — however, Exclaim! only hates when it's deserved and necessary. With that, we regret to inform you the song is just fine.

Does it sound like a Charli XCX ripoff? Sure. Was Cabello our first contender for the next hyperpop main girl? Probably not. The repetitive "I love it" refrain from the preview works better within the context of the song, especially with the post-chorus sample of Gucci Mane's "Lemonade." Could it be better? Absolutely, but meh, let's let her have this one for once.

If you're into maybe appropriating queer culture just a little bit, immensely lazy Playboi Carti verses, and blonde box dye, this one's for you. Watch the music video for "I LUV IT" below.
