Racoon Bandit Announce 'Close Your Eyes' LP, Share New Track

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Jul 30, 2015

Charlottetown's Racoon Bandit made their debut back in 2011 with Into the Hills, and now the indie-folk four-piece (with a, er, creatively spelled band name) are ready to return with a sophomore record. Titled Close Your Eyes, the album is due out on August 21.

While their inaugural offering heard the band toying with folk, country and rock, the last few years have allowed them some time to experiment. A press release notes that the new material is a blend of "sprawling folk-rock, psych-tinged indie, and adventurous songwriting."

Like their fellow Maritime-based musical heroes Sloan and Thrush Hermit, Racoon Bandit trade off songwriting duties between all four members — Fraser McCallum, Roger Carter, and brothers Scott and Adam Gallant — without ever letting the album lose its sense of cohesion and warmth.

The record was produced by Paper Lions' Colin Buchanan and features special guest appearances from Kinley Dowling (Hey Rosetta!), Allison Kelly (Sirens) and Jill McRae (the Misled Uke).

The full tracklisting can be found below, while the album artwork is pictured above. Scroll past the tracklisting to hear the new groove-infused jangle pop tune "You Got Into It."
