Members of Supergrass Team Up with Nigel Godrich for Hot Rats, Cover Velvet Underground, Beastie Boys and Sex Pistols on Debut Album
11/20/2009 Last year, we reported that Supergrass members Gaz Coombes and Danny Goffey had taken their band's Diamond Hoo Ha Men and spun it into a side-project. The band had announced that they were working on a top secret project under the moniker, and little else was mentioned from there. Now, however, it appears as though the project's name has been changed to the Hot Rats, and the details for the duo's debut album have been released. (More after the jump.)...Full Article

Sonic Avenues "Hiding From You"
11/20/2009 Given the sheer volume of bands that claim The Buzzcocks and The Jam as primary influences, it's rather shocking just how many can't make it work. When a band does produce a record that matches the pop hooks, aggression and scrappy energy of their heroes, it's a minor miracle. (More after the jump.)...Full Article

Former MuchMusic VJ Michael Williams
To many who watched MuchMusic in the late '80s and early '90s, Michael Williams was a familiar face. The Cleveland, Ohio- born VJ was most prominently known for hosting the shows Soul in the City and Rap City, playing soul, R&B and hip-hop videos, a critical role given the paucity of radio stations across the country regularly playing the music.... On his second album, Unbalance, 2562 continues to fuse genres and theories about rhythmic persuasion. Less atmospheric than his highly acclaimed avant-dub-step debut, this new disc further showcases 2562's unerring sense of swing. Though he denies any intentional influences from Africa... Full Review

"Slayer!" Second only to pleas for Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Freebird," virtually every concert-goer of the past quarter-century has heard this passionate cry unleashed during a show, metal or otherwise. There's a reason. The Huntington, California metal quartet is hands-down one of the boldest, most agile, impassioned bands in the history of recorded music. There's no mistaking Slayer.... Read More
