Jens Lekman, the Breeders and Little Joy Tapped for Drew Barrymore’s Whip It! Soundtrack
9/2/2009 By Jason Schreurs

Whip It!, the upcoming film about roller derby starring Canadian actress Ellen Page and Drew Barrymore, will feature a soundtrack that includes the Ramones, Jens Lekman, the Breeders, Little Joy, Peaches, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and more.

The soundtrack, set to be released via Rhino Records on September 29, has quickly become one of the most anticipated movie/music tie-ins this fall, right behind Karen O’s Where the Wild Things Are soundtrack that we told you about a few days ago.

While the film’s score features the Section Quartet, who have done orchestral covers of songs by the Postal Service, Radiohead, Muse, Soundgarden, Oasis and others, will not appear on the soundtrack release, according to The Playlist. Bummer, we know. But still, Rhino’s release does look pretty sweet.

The trailer for Whip It! features a track by Peaches, as well as some Weezer songs, and can be seen in the YouTube clip below.

The film itself, which was directed by Barrymore, is due to hit theatres on October 2.
