Rob Halford to Release Christmas Album
9/14/2009 By Greg Pratt

In a move that we hoped would never happen, metal god Rob Halford — better known as the hellbent-for-leather front-man of Judas Priest — has announced he will be recording and releasing a Christmas album.

The record — Halford’s first solo release in seven years — will be called Halford III – Winter Songs and will be released through the man’s own Metal God Records on October 26. A press release says that the album, which was written and recorded throughout ’08 and ’09, will include a collection of new Halford-written tunes, plus his take on some Christmas classics.

“Well, I’ve always said I wanted to produce a Christmas CD,” Halford said in the press release. “The Halford band has assembled a fantastic release, and we’re excited to have produced a collection of holiday tracks which all of us have enjoyed from a very early age.”

There have been some kind of lame attempts at combining metal and Christmas music in the past, and combined with the recent, rather puzzling news about Bob Dylan releasing a Christmas disc this year, this is a little hard to take. But, still, the thought of hearing Halford wail his way through “Come All Ye Faithful” is pretty irresistible.

Get a sneak preview when first single “Get into the Spirit” drops on September 29.

For Jully Black, hard work has unquestionably paid off. By stepping out — breaking out — of the career-limiting confines of "Canadian R&B singer," the vivacious Black has drawn her own map, blazed her own trail, and apparently arrived at sustainable success. The Toronto-based Black today wears many hats — singer, songwriter, producer, TV personality — all of which are a perfect fit.... Read More
Since his first single was released in 2003, Norway's Hans-Peter Lindstrøm has redefined the disco template for an entire generation of producers. He's the leading ambassador for what's often referred to as the Scandinavian space disco sound, a spatial, somewhat synthy update on the disco template that incorporates its region's rich history of psychedelic and prog rock foundations....
