Arcade Fire Now Streaming Their Score to Richard Kelly's The Box Online?
10/9/2009 By Brock Thiessen

As we’ve mentioned a few times, Arcade Fire’s Win Butler, Régine Chassagne and Owen “Final Fantasy” Pallett have scored filmmaker Richard Kelly’s much-anticipated and long-delayed new film, The Box. The film by the Donnie Darko director is set for a November 6 release date, but thanks to a new Box mini-site, you can get a taste of what may be the Arcade Fire-penned score right now.

A track is currently streaming on the website here, and if it’s indeed part of the score done by Butler, Chassagne and Pallett, get ready to get thoroughly spooked.

As previously reported, Kelly said the score would have a feel similar to those done by Bernard Hermann, the composer behind Psycho, which indeed seems to be the case with the track’s looping, string-heavy arrangements making for one eerie atmosphere. Some creepy visuals are on the site as well, only adding to the hair-rising effect.

Apparently, the score is a whopping 80 minutes long and used prominently throughout the film, but so far, no release date for any soundtrack has been set. In fact, few firm details at all have been released at this point, though songs by Eric Clapton, Grateful Dead, Wilson Pickett, Scott Walker and the Marshall Tucker Band are also to be featured in The Box.
