Floor Prep Massive Retrospective Box Set

There might not be many people on the face of this planet that have been itching for an ultra-comprehensive and pricey Floor box set but if you happen to be one of them, this is your lucky day. Robotic Empire has announced the label is going to put out a very limited-edition box set of the under-the-radar Floridian doom/sludge/pop group. If that little description makes you think of underground buzz band Torche, it should come as no surprise to find that there is indeed member crossover between the two acts.

According to the press release, the Below & Beyond set will contain ten twelve-inch LPs, one seven-inch, eight CDs and a 32-page booklet. Everything is housed in its own jacket and it comes in a custom cloth-bound box. Pictures of the set can be found here, and it looks pretty damn awesome.

If you’re a Floor fan, you better act fast: only 275 of these bad boys are going to be available to the public. To pre-order the set go here, and with that pre-order you’ll get an exclusive T-shirt and access to a website that will keep you informed of the set’s production. The price of the set is $250 U.S.

If you’re unfamiliar with Floor, the band had a tumultuous existence that finally ended for good in 2004. Their last album, 2004’s Dove, was actually recorded in 1994. Before that, they released a self-titled album in ’02. Although the band played some extremely heavy tunes, they were more active in the extremely prolific Gainesville punk scene at the time, anchored by heavyweights like No Idea Records and a little band you may have heard of called Hot Water Music.

Floor are previewing ten of the box set’s tracks (eight of which are previously unreleased) on their MySpace page.

Man, until the ultra-limited-edition Clairmel or Tired From Now On box sets come out, this stands as one of the coolest/geekiest things out there.
