Social Distortion Announce Canadian Tour
6/2/2009 By Keith Carman

Back in April, we here at Exclaim! were bubbling with giddiness when we got to tell you that punk rock originators Social Distortion had brought on a new drummer. As you should know, that skin-basher is none other than super-awesome dude Atom Willard, who was a part of equally awesome punk/rock'n'roll outfit Rocket From the Crypt and, well, not-so-awesome acts the Offspring and Angels and Airwaves. The move to Social D was a smooth one, needless to say.

Anyway, like we said, we've told you all this before, so now we should get to the point, which is that with Willard all up to speed on his 4/4 timing and minimal fills (those are a lot harder aspects of drumming than you would imagine) and it's time for the Orange County, CA-based quartet to get out on the road and hawk their wares.

Grabbing openers Civet and Strangers, the D — the real D, not that joke Jack Black calls a “band” — will be hitting a few Canadian towns this summer before they finally release a follow-up to 2004's Sex, Love and Rock 'n' Roll, which front-man Mike Ness alluded to last year.

Here are the Canadian dates, and below there a video. I can't see too well... is that Good Charlotte's Benji Madden?

Tour dates:

7/18 Vancouver, BC - Commodore Ballroom
7/20 Victoria, BC - Royal Theatre
7/22 Edmonton, AB – Edmonton Event Centre
7/25 Calgary, AB – MacEwan Hall Ballroom
7/28 Saskatoon, SK – Odeon Events Centre
7/29 Winnipeg, MB – Burton Cummings Theatre
8/5 Montreal, QC – Le Medley
8/6 Quebec City, QC – Imperial Theatre
8/8 Collingwood, ON – Wakestock
