Leonard Cohen Releases Live in London CD and DVD
2/13/2009 By Brock Thiessen

Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Leonard Cohen has announced he’s going double live. Following his first tour in some 15 years, the 74-year-old Canadian songsmith has gathered a number of songs for what he’s simply dubbing Live in London, a concert recording that will mark his first record in five years.

The 26-track set is culled from the July 17 performance at London's 02 Arena in 2008 and will be available as either a DVD or two-CD package on March 31 via Sony/Columbia. On it, you’ll find Cohen digging deep into his famed catalogue and delivering live renditions of such classics as "I'm Your Man," “The Future,” “Bird on the Wire” and, of course, “Hallelujah,” among others.

To get a taste of Live in London, the track "Suzanne" is streaming exclusively at Amazon.com, where you can pre-order this set that “fully captures and recreates the extraordinary show,” the press release so kindly says.

In other Cohen news, the songwriter recently dug into his pockets to donate about $162,000 to victims of the Australian brushfires after recently touring the country.
