Nick Cave Novel Set For September 2009, Bad Seeds Play Toronto and Montreal
9/22/2008 By Brock Thiessen

More details have leaked about the release of Nick Cave’s second novel, which will mark his first in two decades. Publishing company Canongate has revealed it will be putting out the forthcoming Cave book, tilted Death of Bunny Munro, in September 2009, which will follow his celebrated debut novel And The Ass Saw The Angel.

According to Canongate publisher and managing director Jamie Byng, the book is "a modern Faustus of sorts" that will "shock and amaze a lot of people," NME reports, adding that the book focuses on a man who journeys throughout the south of England after the suicide of his wife.

Along with the printed version of Death of Bunny Munro, Cave is expected to release an audiobook version, which will be read none other than the author himself.

In other Cave news, as we previously reported the first four Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds albums — From Her to Eternity, The First Born Is Dead, Kicking Against the Pricks and Your Funeral and My Trial — are slated to be expanded and remastered as 5.1 surround sound discs courtesy of Mute. However, while they are supposedly to be released sometime before the end of 2008, no firm dates have been set.

Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds will be in Canada for two shows next week, kicking off October with a show at the Kool Haus in Toronto, playing Montreal as part of Pop Montreal the following night (October 2) at the Metropolis.

The deliberately lo-fi, yet earnest, split between Transit and Man Overboard sounds like the product of a bunch of friends growing up on punk and hardcore throughout the '90s. The hardcore leanings of Boston fivesome Transit lay the groundwork for the pop punk tendencies of the Jersey kids in Man Ov... Full Review
