Arcade Fire Quash Rumours of Richard Kelly Movie Soundtrack
5/16/2008 By Brock Thiessen

Sorry guys, it looks like Arcade Fire aren’t going to composing a soundtrack after all. Contrary to our report earlier this week, Arcade Fire have released a statement informing us they are not writing the musical score to Donnie Darko writer/director Richard Kelly's next film.

In a recent post on the Montreal outfit’s website titled "NO SOUNDTRACKS GO," front-man Win Butler sets the record straight:

Hi everyone. Hope you are having a great spring... just to let you all know that (internet-based fact checking aside) Arcade Fire is NOT doing the soundtrack to any film. We are all off for the summer, writing songs, reading books, and keeping our plants alive. Regine, Owen Pallet [sic] and I may do an instrumental piece or two for Richard Kelly's new movie...we met at a show this year and hit it off, but we are not planning on doing any major work for a while, and this would not constitute a soundtrack or a release.

But, like Kelly and the film’s producer/engineer Markus Dravs both hinted at this week, at least Arcade Fire are indeed involved with the project, even if it is just for a few instrumental pieces.
