Twilight Sad Ready New EP
4/23/2008 By Brock Thiessen

Scottish epic rockers the Twilight Sad are set to follow up last year’s widely applauded debut album Fourteen Autumns and Fifteen Winters with a shiny, new EP. Entitled Here, It Never Snowed. Afterwards It Did, the six-track release will feature alternative versions of several tracks from their full-length, as well as two new ones. And, like Built to Spill and Beach House before them, one of those new tracks will be a cover of Daniel Johnston’s “Some Things Last a Long Time.”

”We wanted to record re-worked versions of some songs from Fourteen Autumns and Fifteen Winters as we felt there was another side to some of them that worked just as well as the originals,” guitarist Andy MacFarlane said of the EP, Angry Ape reports. "The idea came about from playing certain gigs or sessions with a more basic lineup of just fan organ, glockenspiel and percussion. We developed that sound in the recordings by plugging the fan organ through effects, adding guitars, drones, violins and experimenting with the alternate sound."

Here, It Never Snowed. Afterwards It Did will hit the shops June 9 both as a 12-inch and as a digital release (sorry, CD fans, nothing for you), through their label, FatCat.

Here is the tracklisting:

1 And She Would Darken the Memory
2 Cold Days from The Birdhouse
3 Here, It Never Snowed. Afterwards It Did.
4 Mapped by What Surrounded Them
5 Walking for Two Hours
6 Some Things Last a Long Time

The deliberately lo-fi, yet earnest, split between Transit and Man Overboard sounds like the product of a bunch of friends growing up on punk and hardcore throughout the '90s. The hardcore leanings of Boston fivesome Transit lay the groundwork for the pop punk tendencies of the Jersey kids in Man Ov... Full Review
