Playboy Reveals Hot Chip, Tokyo Police Club, T.I. Shirt Designs
2/11/2008 By Cam Lindsay

This may be news to some people, but Playboy isn't just about naked ladies wearing Stetsons and holding garden hoses. So says the latest "Sex and Music" issue, which features the fourth annual fashion shoot with photos by Mick Rock, featuring the likes of Daft Punk, Iggy Pop, the Shins, Gogol Bordello, Hot Chip and Duran Duran.

Perhaps the more interesting angle of this issue, however, comes in the reveal of the previously mentioned custom designed Bunny t-shirts by a number of the world's hottest acts: Beasts of Eden, Duran Duran, Dimitri From Paris, Daft Punk, Ghostland Observatory, the Heavy, Hot Chip, Iggy Pop, Jamie T, the Little Ones, Margot & the Nuclear So & So's, New Young Pony Club, Office, the Oohlas, the Pipettes, the Shins, T.I., Tokyo Police Club and Working For A Nuclear Free City. Each shirt can now be viewed by clicking here, and come March will be sold at Bloomingdale's and through the yet to be launched RocktheBunny.com site.

The original designs of the shirts are scheduled to be auctioned off with the proceeds going towards the Rock the Vote cause.

The term "videogame music" is often intended as an insult, deriding electronic beatscapes as rudimentary by comparing them to the 8-bit by necessity, bleep-based soundtracks of early Atari and Nintendo games. (See: Castles, Crystal) That Super Mario's theme music remains embedded in the frontal lobes of anyone under the age of 40 proves the critical weakness of the diss ― but it's also hopelessly archaic considering how much videogame music has evolved over the years....
