Blink-182 Reveal Dates For Joint Weezer Tour
5/19/2009 By Josiah Hughes

As we previously announced, the rumour mill was a spinnin’ that ’90s pop punk luminaries Blink-182 would be bringing Weezer with them on their upcoming reunion tour. We now have confirmation, as well as a tour itinerary, but it comes with some bad news. Weezer will not be supporting on all dates, only some. The rest will include support from a revolving cast of hit and miss noobs like Fall Out Boy, Panic at the Disco, All-American Rejects, Taking Back Sunday, Asher Roth and Chester French. So not ‘90s.

Still, the event should prove to be quite a spectacle, as the band have hired Daft Punk/Kanye stage designer Martin Phillips to create what bassist Mark Hoppus calls "the most ridiculous display of lights and images we can imagine." The massive string of dates includes Canadian stops in Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Quebec City, Montreal and Toronto, but no word on which openers will be appearing where.

Besides the tour, Blink-182 are also working on new material for an album they plan to record when they finish up the live dates. In other words, get your cargo shorts and shell necklaces ready because the ‘90s are back for good.

Saturday night is meant for hand pumping and fraternal writhing, and nothing inspires it like Parisian pop. The deliberately lo-fi, yet earnest, split between Transit and Man Overboard sounds like the product of a bunch of friends growing up on punk and hardcore throughout the '90s. The hardcore leanings of Boston fivesome Transit lay the groundwork for the pop punk tendencies of the Jersey kids in Man Ov... Full Review
