Update: Orders For Animal Collective Box Set Suspended Due To "Overwhelming Demand"
5/12/2009 By Brock Thiessen

Well, it appears that after a lot of going, going, the Animal Collective box set is gone. This morning, the exclusive retailer behind the ridiculously anticipated release, Fusetron, announced it's suspending taking orders due to “overwhelming demand,” despite the set being on sale for only a few hours, and for the hefty sale price of $92.

The all-caps announcement on Fusetron’s website reads: “DUE TO OVERWHELMING DEMAND WE HAVE SUSPENDED TAKING ORDERS UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. IT WILL TAKE A DAY OR TWO TO SORT OUT ALL THE ORDERS UP TO THIS POINT. IF THERE ARE ANY COPIES LEFT WE WILL ANNOUNCE IT ON THE NEXT EMAIL UPDATE. THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR THEIR ENTHUSIASM.”

The update comes less than 24 hours after the triple-vinyl Animal Crack Box went on sale late yesterday (May 11). As previously reported, only 1,000 copies of the release are being pressed, with no plans to release any future CD or digital versions of the set. All the tracks were recorded live between 2000 and 2003 at practise sessions and in other non-studio environs, with most never being previously released in any form whatsoever.

If you weren’t one of the lucky ones, here are the tracks you’ll be missing out on with Animal Crack Box (until someone uploads this thing to the internet):

A2. “Ahhh Good Country”

A3. “Iko Ovo”

B2. “Pumpkin’s Hallucination”
