Settle into the Weekend with The Box, A Christmas Carol, The Men Who Stare at Goats and More in Exclaim!’s Film Review Round-Up
11/6/2009 By Travis Caine

Another weekend is finally upon us and after the excitement of Halloween, there’s no better way to spend a quiet night out than catching a flick at the theatre. To make sure you get the best bang for your buck, Exclaim! has all of the latest film reviews in our Recently Reviewed section to help guide your weekend of cinema.

Receiving the unofficial “best/worst movie name” award is The Men Who Stare at Goats, which boasts a cast that includes Ewan McGregor, George Clooney, Jeff Bridges and Kevin Spacey in a bizarrely look at paranormal military training.

Taking a more sci-fi stance this week is writer/director Richard Kelly (Donnie Darko, Southland Tales) with his latest The Box, and on a similar wave-length is The Fourth Kind, which doesn't do quite as good a job tackling the genre.

But nothing seems worse than Gentlemen Broncos, which is being nominated for worst film of 2009 by our reviewer. The smarter choice would be Inside Hana’s Suitcase, a film that garnered plenty of critical acclaim at this year’s Hot Docs Festival.

And finally, for those looking to dive straight in to the next holiday, be sure to check out the latest remake of A Christmas Carol. This motion-captured CGI edition of the classic tale stars Jim Carrey as Ebenezer Scrooge, as well as the three visiting ghosts of Christmas past, present and future.
