Alkaline Trio’s Matt Skiba Goes Solo with Demos

Gothic punk rockers soiled their collective pants this August when Alkaline Trio front-man Matt Skiba announced that he was recording a debut solo effort. Yet details have been few and far between. Actually, we haven't heard excrement about it since.

Thankfully though, the label that will be issuing it, ages-old punk rock indie Asian Man Records has finally shed some light on the subject.

The effort will be released on February 16 and should feature 15 tracks in total. It is dubbed Demos in honour of the fact that the music was initially recorded in various locations over the span of ten months as demo material.

However, Asian Man has made one hell of a lofty statement regarding the album, claiming that because it was so pristine, the demos are fine as is and will be released untouched. Label owner Mike Parks spoke with Alternative Press, claiming, “Whether in his bedroom or while travelling, Matt recorded these songs originally as demos, but the songs are perfect as is. We couldn't ask for more. Anybody who loves the Alkaline Trio without the glossed over production will be incredibly happy with this final product.”

Moreover, there will be a CD version, as well as coloured vinyl for the real collectors, with pre-orders starting in December.

For the record, Skiba's last opus outside of Alkaline Trio was a split EP with pop punk hero Kevin Seconds in 2002. Not to be outdone, Alkaline Trio bassist Dan Adriano recently launched his own solo endeavour the Emergency Room.
