Julian Casablancas Announces Christmas Single

Strokes front-man Julian Casablancas has announced he will release a Christmas seven-inch on December 21.

Rather than choosing a traditional holiday number, Casablancas has opted to cover "I Wish It Was Christmas Today," a goofy song that was first sung by comedian Horatio Sanz as a skit on Saturday Night Live.

"It was a fun thing to do. Everyone seems to do a Christmas song at some point, so I always said to myself I'd do that song," he told NME. "I now checked that off the list of things to do!"

The seven-inch will be released in limited quantities, so for those who don't manage to get their hands on a copy, the song will be available as a digital download.

In other Casablancas news, his debut solo album, Phrazes of the Young, was released today (November 3). And as previously reported, Casablancas is launching a world tour in support of the record, with one Canadian date in Vancouver on November 23.
