Slayer Postpone Canadian Carnage

While the release of Slayer's tenth studio album, World Painted Blood, went off unhindered today (November 3), Canadian fans will have to wait to enjoy the thrash metal giants live.

According to a press release issued by the band's label, Slayer have had to postpone their Canadian Carnage tour with fellow ragers Megadeth, which was slated to begin November 8.

Sources indicate Slayer bassist/vocalist Tom Araya is suffering from a back injury believed to have been sustained during/related to his “on-stage activity.” We can only assume that years of his unique head-banging style have overextended something.

Araya “is currently under the care of a specialist [who has] ordered an immediate surgical procedure to take place in Texas," the press release says. Weird how it's on the same day as World Painted Blood's release.

Guitarist Kerry King made this official statement on behalf of the band:



“What is foremost in our minds right now is that Tom do whatever he needs to get this taken care of. While all four of us are disappointed that we won't be able to see through all of our commitments set for the next few weeks, the most important thing is Tom's health. We thank the fans in Canada and here in L.A., the Megadeth camp, and everyone associated with Jimmy Kimmel Live for their understanding. We look forward to seeing you all soon.”

Dates will be rescheduled as soon as possible. As noted, the band have also been forced to postpone a signing session in L.A. and their November fourth appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
