Nigel Godrich's From the Basement Emerges Online with Radiohead, Beck and White Stripes
11/3/2009 By Alex Hudson

Super-producer Nigel Godrich (Radiohead, Beck, Paul McCartney) has launched a new website for his series, From the Basement. The show began in 2006, and features live performances from an array of high-profile bands, filmed in HD in London’s Maida Vale Studios. According to the mission statement on the website, the goal of the project is to exhibit “the truest representation of the state of their artists’ work, captured in a way that lets their talents speak without the interference of presenters, or audiences.”

From the Basement was initially only available as a podcast, and selections from the series have since aired on various TV networks. In 2008, a collection of the best performances was released on DVD. Now, thanks to the new website, all of the performances are only a click away, all in HD quality and free of charge.

As of this writing, 38 different artists are featured on the website, with multiple songs available from each one. Great, now how are any of us ever going to get any work done? Highlights include the White Stripes, Beck and Radiohead. Click here to check it out.
