Yeah Yeah Yeahs
"Heads Will Roll" (A-Trak Remix)

10/26/2009 By Ian Gormely

As listeners' attentions shift to the group's work on the Where the Wild Things Are soundtrack, this new remix should remind everyone of the awesomeness that was the Yeah Yeah Yeahs' spring release, It's Blitz.

Coming courtesy of Montreal native and sometimes DJ for Kanye West's A-Trak, this new mix takes the 80s dance floor vibe of the original track and transforms it into a full-on early 90s rave up. Starting with some wailing moans from Karen O, A-Trak wastes no time setting the tone with a cut up version of the original's signature keyboard riff. It's enough to make you want to dig those oversized pants and baby-soothers out of the closet and find the nearest warehouse party.

Commercial potential? The Avetts have it in spades, so don't be surprised if this disc blows up big. After building a grassroots following independently, the North Carolina trio signed to Rick Rubin's American label, and the man himself produced this, their fifth album. Sitting in a Toronto coffee shop the week before the release of Little Girls' debut album, 20-year-old Josh McIntyre is a little worried. After an opening slot for crazed Israeli rockers Monotonix the previous night, the band's guitarist had his guitar amp repossessed. "He had it for a little longer than he was supposed to have it," he says dryly. A replacement needs to be wrangled before the band set out for their gig in Hamilton tonight.... Read More
